JEAN HURST

Like many creative people, Jean began working with her artistic talent early, attracted to the challenges of drawing and painting in school. In her twenties she began in earnest to take classes in art history, painting, sculpture and pottery at local universities. She took as many formal courses as her busy schedule allowed as she raised her two daughters and worked full time as an Emergency Room nurse in a busy city hospital. She continues to take classes with artists she has known and admired, both in Rockport, Massachusetts and here in Florida where she has lived since 1984.

Jean has had a passion for the sandy old alley ways of St. Petersburg’s old North East and Passe-a-Grille Florida and has spent the last 10 years painting them before they are gone.

Through all this she feels a supportive husband and enthusiastic family have been a great asset to her sense of creativity.
